Key Takeaways This month's forum looked at the subject of Recruitment and Retention. It is clear that many teams are experiencing considerable challenge both in recruiting and retaining appropriately skilled team members. A poll of attendees identified that 53% have one or more vacancies at present and that 67% are not comfortable with the current staffing model and budget for the team. Of particular concern was the ageing profile of many teams with 22% of attendees citing retirement as the reason for staff departures. Alongside this there was a clear view that many experienced applicants no longer possess the skills required for the role. We discussed differing ways of approaching the challenges currently experienced and a number of new options are now being adopted to market vacancies, attract a wider range of applicants and position the internal audit function as a great career choice.
